I’m Naomi, a UK based, thirty-something beauty product addict and I love to read about, test, buy and collect makeup. I’ve been more than a little obsessed with makeup for as long as I can remember, which was well before I was allowed to wear it. My mum made me wait until I was 15 before she would let me experiment with dodgy foundation and frosted eye shadow. At the time I was frustrated, in hindsight I should be grateful for the fact there is less photographic evidence of my makeup disasters.

Twenty years later, my taste has become more refined, although my obsession with glitter and all things sparkly will probably never leave me. I will be that 90 year old in the nursing home with lashings of eye-liner and a matte red lip. Makeup is a huge part of who I am. It’s fun, easy to change and easy to buy.

Don’t let the name beauty addict mama fool you, I also write about other things! I am a mum to two beautiful little girls, Miss B and Miss A, and occasionally write about the trials and tribulations of being a single mum to them. By which I mean all the strange conversations I have with them, usually at 5 a.m and repeatedly explaining why we cannot have a pet cow…

I am a huge advocate of the ‘look good, feel better’ mantra and on beauty addict mama, I hope to raise awareness of anxiety and other concerns surrounding mental health. I document my own journey with anxiety and talk about the methods and tips that I use to improve it. One of which is makeup. For me when I feel I look good, I feel better and it works both ways. Openness is the only way to break down the stigma surrounding mental health. I’m no medical expert – in my day job I am a teacher – so feel free to take my tips with a huge pinch of salt. I am only sharing what works for me, to reassure other beauty addict anxiety sufferers (whether or not you’re a mum) that you aren’t alone.

I used to think it was selfish to focus on myself, I soon realised that I can’t function if I don’t look after myself.
