Over the past 18 months I have tried a few different subscription boxes, but Look Fantastic is the only box that I have ever stuck with. In fact it is the only box that I haven’t cancelled and restarted because the quality of the boxes is incredibly inconsistent (Glossybox, I’m talking about you). Or cancelled forever because I was fed up of receiving dry shampoo and hand cream. Yes Birchbox, I mean you…
So the fact that I have subscribed to this box as long as I have is a testament to how good it is. Especially because I have the attention span of a flea. The Look Fantastic beauty subscription box is by far the best box that I have received and I always look forward to receiving it. It doesn’t matter how many other boxes I’ve tried, nothing replaces this box. And this is why…
5 Reasons Why I Subscribe to Look Fantastic
The packaging is just amazing. Sturdy boxes is gorgeous colour, tissue paper, shredded paper. What’s not to love.
It comes with a free issue of Elle magazine which usually retails for around £4 so if you’re going to buy it anyway, this makes the box only £9.
A variety of products. Not just dry shampoo and hand cream but makeup and skincare products too.
A range of brands from more luxury brands to well-known high-street brands.
Great customer service. This box is nearly always on time – I’ve had one late box and when I dealt with customer services they were so efficient and polite.
August Box Review
Now on to this month’s box… Luckily for me, this arrived just before I went on holiday so I decided to take it with me and try out all of the products whilst relaxing. Plus if something didn’t agree with me, nobody that I knew need know…
Mio Boob Tube and Multi Action Bust Firmer
The brand claims that this product “smoothes and brightens the chest, giving you a youthful and radiant skin tone.” Hmmmm. The jury’s out on this. I’m not going to lie, this smells amazing and incredibly moisturising but I cannot for the life of me fathom why it’s marketed as being just for boobs. Personally, I can’t understand how any product can firm your bust because if it can, I’m using it on my mum tum and thighs. However, as a general body moisturiser, this is lovely and left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
Erno Laszlo Hydraphel Skin Supplement
I loved the texture of this gel toner. It felt so different to use when compared with my normal toner. I used this at night after removing my makeup and cleansing my skin before following up with my favourite moisturiser (currently Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Brightening Day Cream). It’s been over a week since I added the Hydraphel Skin Supplement to my routine, and my skin already feels more hydrated and softer.
Nails Inc.redible Glazin Over Lip Glaze
A few different shades in this lip glaze went out in this month’s boxes and I received the Plans Today shade which is a dusty pink, antique rose, ‘my lips but better’ shade for me. Honestly, I’m so conditioned into a bold lip that I wasn’t convinced that this shade suited me, but I did get compliments on my change of look, so it couldn’t have been that bad!
For me, the lip glaze fell somewhere between the territory of lip gloss and liquid lipstick. It gave a lovely matte finish but didn’t seem to have the longevity that I would associate with liquid lipsticks at all. However, it was comfortable to wear and left my lips feeling hydrated.
Blink Brow Bar Mini Brow Build
I’m quite picky about my eyebrow products, I don’t think I’ve strayed away from Benefit in years. Needless to say, I wasn’t overkeen on this when I first saw it in my box. Even less so when I realised that it came in Indian Chocolate – a medium brown colour which wasn’t the best colour match for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t the worst brow product in the world. It came in a gel/cream texture and was applied easily with a mascara wand. I wore this on holiday, whilst hot, sweaty, at the beach and when I got caught in a shower and I have to say, it didn’t budge until I removed my makeup. If I wasn’t obsessed with Benefit’s Brow-Zing, I might be tempted to look for this in a better colour.
Molton Brown Bath and Shower Gel in Pink Pepperpod
I’ve never met a Molton Brown product that didn’t smell amazing and true to form, this didn’t disappoint. It’s gorgeous, even the kids ‘borrowed’ it in the shower. It’s highly moisturising and only the teeniest amount is needed to get a good lather, so even though it’s pricey, it’s definitely worth it.
Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash
I do like Balance Me products, they tend to be almost natural and my skin seems to like the simplicity of them. This face wash contains grapefruit, frankincense and chamomile oils and smells extremely fresh. It doesn’t lather, but too much and doesn’t leave my skin dry at all. I enjoyed using this as a basic cleanser.
And For Next Month…
September is Look Fantastic’s birthday month which always brings amazing boxes. The previews I’ve seen had said that the next month’s box includes the Eve Lom cleansing balm which I used to love before I had a mortgage and childcare costs. Those were the days… I can’t wait for September 1st!
