Put your hands up if your first foray into beauty products included a visit to the Body Shop and a spritz of White Musk as a teen? Hopefully it’s not just me who used to use Body Shop products religiously as a teenager. It’s for this reason that I whenever I walk near a store, I feel a huge wave of dewberry-scented nostalgia. To be honest, I think I’ll forever be partial to a fruit-scented body butter/shower gel combination and that’s before I get on to the soaps…

Recently, my work bestie became a Body Shop at Home consultant and our lunchtime beauty products chat took another turn. I was reminded by how much I used to love Body Shop and had actually missed using the products. In a sea of cruelty-free and vegan friendly products, it’s easy to forget that The Body Shop were pioneers of this so many years ago. As a friend, obviously, I *had* to support her new business and buy a few products. This of course had nothing to do with the fact that I’m a major product junkie and love trying (and rediscovering) new products.

Banana Body Yoghurt £8.50 for 200ml

The claim of 48-hour moisture and the promise of instant absorption were the two reasons that made me purchase this. Who has the time to wait for moisturiser to sink in every morning? Not me. Especially as my dry, eczema-prone skin is far too dry to skip its daily moisture dose, so I needed something. I wasn’t disappointed with this.

Body Shop Haul Banana Butter

The Banana Body Yoghurt is enriched with almond oil, which makes it incredibly moisturising, even for dry skin like mine. When applied onto dry skin it sinks in really quickly and most importantly, without leaving a sticky, tacky feeling on the skin. This means that I can get dressed straight away and don’t have to waste time on my already rushed mornings. This is perfect for busy mums like myself. To lock even more moisture into my skin, I’ve been applying the body yoghurt every morning onto damp skin and my dry flaky skin is now silky smooth and glowing.

The other thing that I love about this product is the smell. I’m actually allergic to bananas and can’t eat them but I do love the smell of them. Most banana beauty products have that awful synthetic banana smell but this smells gorgeously like fresh bananas and lasts all day. I was literally sniffing my arms throughout the day the first time that I wore this.

Mango Shower Gel £5 for 250ml

I’m not going to lie, I was always going to purchase a fruit-scented shower gel for old-time’s sake. This does exactly what it says on the tin. It lathers up nicely, leaves my skin feeling moisturised and smells delicious. There’s not really more that I can say!

Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm Body Shop Haul

Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm £9 for 50ml

I have a few tattoos and I the reason I wanted to use this balm was solely to brighten some of my older tattoos as they have become dull over the years. The fact that it is 100% natural and only consists of 9 ingredients interested me as many other balms I’ve seen have contained mineral oil an ingredient that I’m trying to stay away from it. This also had no detectable fragrance which was also a bonus as I wouldn’t want it to be competing with the Banana Body Yoghurt and smell like a fruit salad every day. One scent at a time is more than enough for me.

Before and After

It’s early days, but the balm has improved the appearance of my tattoos instantly. They look brighter and my tattoos with colours look much better, I wish I could show the difference but unfortunately they are difficult to photograph by myself! As much as the balm makes a difference to my tattoos,  it doesn’t permanently improve their appearance and does need to be applied daily to see the benefits. I’ve heard that the Amazonian Saviour Balm is also great for scars and stretch-marks (of which I have more than my fair share) so am excited to try it on these to see if I see an improvement. I’ll update this post if I do. The Body Shop Haul

Almond Milk and Honey Body Butter And Shower Cream Minis £6

I love mini and travel-sized products as they are a good way to try a product to see if you like it before committing to the higher cost. If I’m honest, I was pretty sure that I was going to love this as I love anything that contains almond. I’m borderline obsessed. However, I wasn’t wrong. This combination smells absolutely amazing and is incredibly moisturising which makes it perfect for my dry skin. I’m already tempted to buy the full-size version to use at night or better yet the Almond Milk Body Yoghurt to use every morning. Or maybe even both!

I knew it wouldn’t take long for me to become obsessed with The Body Shop again…
