I’ve not been feeling myself this week at all. It’s been a difficult week. But because I was up ridiculously early this morning (04:41 to be precise) I had time before the kids woke up to relax in a hot bath without Lego being thrown in or being asked ‘Mummy what are you doing?’ on repeat.

I took a little longer to make my breakfast this morning, and because I wanted a treat, I then had it in bed. I just about managed to get it all eaten before the first child grumpily shouted for me.

Overnight oats, protein smoothie and flowers

This morning’s breakfast consisted of a smoothie and overnight oats with extra yoghurt and blueberries (think they are all hidden though.)

Smoothie Ingredients

I have this smoothie most mornings and often post a picture on Instagram.     I have adapted this recipe from my personal trainer sister (check her out here)

I know she adds banana – I don’t as they make me ill. Try different things and see what suits you. This is what works for me.

Almond Milk Smoothie

  • 330ml of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop of pea protein
  • 1 tsp of cacao powder
  • 1 tsp of chia seeds
  • 1 tsp of agave nectar

Overnight Oats

These are so easy to make. I just buy plain oats from the supermarket, and two pots of soya yoghurt (as dairy just doesn’t agree with my skin) and soak the oats in the yoghurt overnight. If I’m feeling really lazy, I’ll put frozen berries on as they’ll defrost overnight and be ready to eat by breakfast time.

Overnight oats

But every single day before I have anything for my breakfast, I always start day with a cup of warm water and a slice lemon. I’ve been doing it for years and it’s just second nature now and the fact it aids digestion is a bonus!

Which healthy options do you like for breakfast?
