Like I mentioned in my Glossybox review, when I do something makeup related I’m an all or nothing kind of person. So… when I was contacted by the lovely people at Secret Scent Box to try one of their boxes, of course I said yes!

Secret Scent Box

I am just as much of a fragrance junkie as I am makeup addict. I currently have 9 different bottles sitting on my dressing table and I have to be honest, I alternate them. I’m not a ‘work perfume’, ‘playdate perfume’ and ‘night out perfume’ kind of lady. I wear what takes my fancy! And this is what I liked about Secret Scent Box.

First Impressions

The idea behind Secret Scent Box is every month you receive 3 mystery designer scents – they do female and male boxes – to try. Each Secret Scent Box costs £15 a month with free delivery, which puts it on a par with other subscription boxes that I have tried other far. The packaging was small, sleek and fitted through the letterbox. Not having to chase up parcels is always a bonus for me.

Another thing that I loved, was that the samples are good sizes meaning they lasted at least a week. So the 3 altogether would last around a month – or until your next box arrives. Of course this is assuming you like all of the fragrances!

Secret Scent Box Review

What is in the box?

Inside each box, there are three vials of scent. Each one is labelled and comes with a matching information card describing the fragrance. I found this really helpful, as I’m awful at describing fragrances.

In my box, I received samples of Armani She, Moschino Pink Fresh Couture and Dkny Be Delicious Night.  I was pleased to see that I had three distinct fragrances, especially the Moschino one as I’ve been wanting to try this for a while but I can’t bring myself to buy it because I just can’t stand the bottle! Trying the sample was a great way to realise that I love the scent and will just have to get over the bottle. Or decant it!

The scents

I’m not even going to pretend that I can talk about scents, but I will discuss longevity, which is always important to me!

Secret Scent Box Dkny Delicious Night

This lasted quite well and I could still smell it on my clothes at bedtime. I liked the scent but it wasn’t my favourite. It was definitely more of an evening scent so I don’t think I’d ever use it!

Top Notes:

Pomelo, Blackberry, Ginger

Middle Notes:

Orchid, Jasmine, Iris

Base Notes:

Amber. Patchouli, Vetiver

Armani She

The information card describes this as ‘capturing the beauty of all women’. I don’t know about that but it’s definitely a pretty, feminine fragrance. I didn’t find this as long-lasting as the DKNY perfume which is a shame as I preferred the scent.

Top Notes:

Pineapple, Bergamot, Pear, Tangerine

Middle Notes:

Muguet, Orris, Jasmine, Heliotrope

Base Notes:

Tonka, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Musk

Moschino Pink Fresh Couture

I’m so glad that this came! I’ve been eyeing this up for ages. The scent is beautiful, but I’m not a huge fan of Moschino designs to be honest and I absolutely hate the bottle. I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging that I can’t quite bring myself to by the full-size perfume, although this might change! This scent lasted quite a long-time and I could still smell it and the end of a long day at a children’s party.

Top Notes:

Pink Grapefruit, Blckcurrant, Lily

Middle Notes:

Pomegranate, Rose, Pink Hyacinth

Base Notes:

Cedar, Musk, Ambroxan

Overall, I think this is a nice little subscription box and a great way to try fragrances before you commit to buying them. But also, if you’re the type of person who likes to chop and change their fragrances, this is a low-cost way of doing it.

  1. I’m on the fence about this one. I agree with you that it’s a great way to try fragrances before you buy; but I’m a little iffy if I get products I wouldn’t normally use. I’m very particular about the fragrances I use as the wrong one can trigger a migraine for me. I guess that’s the payoff for a subscription box hey?

  2. That’s very true! Something like this wouldn’t suit you if have a signature fragrance either, but it’s fun if you don’t mind taking a gamble on what you receive! I often donate the things I don’t use to friends and family.
